To Our Animal Neighbors: Thank You for Sharing Your Forest With Us
There's plenty to write here about our human neighbors. Somehow, though, we end up with a great number of photos and stories of our animal neighbors. So, I'll take this opportunity to say to them today: Thank you. We're borrowing a small corner of your forest right now, and we appreciate the chance to share it with you. We'll try our hardest not to step on those of you who are small.
When we pick the bananas from the tree, we'll leave a few for you monkeys (who inspire our sewing projects).
Armadillos, you are welcome to burrow under our yard.
Tarantula, you're a beauty! I'm sure you'll be happier outside than through that door...
Leaf-cutter ants, you are models of industriousness. Do you never tire of carrying leaves toward your giant colony (where you chew them up and spit them out, as food for the fungus you love to eat)?
Birds, thank you for your songs and intricate nests.
Thank you all for inspiring lots of imaginative play...
... and hikes (this week with Papa visiting).
